"Angel's" Story Angel is a 2nd grader and struggles with English. She visited the school nurse in tears to complain about a toothache. The nurse looked in her mouth and saw an extensive infection and called the FAN advocate for help. The advocate was able to work with a local dental partner to have Angel seen that evening at a dental screening. Angel had seven teeth that were in severe decay. A local dentist agreed to see her the following day. The FAN advocate arranged for transportation and translation for Angel and her mom to go to several dental appointments. Angel is now pain free and is very proud of her healthy teeth. She frequently heads to the nurse's office to smile and show them off. Angel receives regular dental care now and recently received a clean check-up at her 6 month visit. |
